The White Company’s Duvet Guide• Should I buy a Natural or Synthetic Duvet?
• Natural Duvets
Sleeping under a luxurious duvet can transform the quality of your sleep.• Natural duvets have the benefit of being both durable and naturally breathable.
• Down, the lightest of all the fillings comes from the breast of the bird and its unique ability to trap air makes it exceptionally light. It is also luxurious, soft and fluffy, as it doesn’t contain feather quills.
• The higher the down content, the lighter, better quality and more durable the product will be.
• Our natural duvets are of box construction, which keeps the filling evenly distributed and prevents cold spots.
Goose Down Duvets £35 - £190

Chrissie Tip:
When you consider that we spend a third of our time in bed, it’s important to make our time there as good and comfortable as possible! Two essentials:
1. Invest in great quality
bed linen, it will last for years and I promise you will love sinking into it every night
2. Buy the best quality duvet you can, all our
goose down duvets come with a 10 or 15 year guarantee, so think just how many blissful nights sleep you will have in return.
• Synthetic or
Anti-allergy?
If you’re allergic to dust-mite allergens, choose from our high quality synthetics and now NEW
natural wool. Non-allergenic, machine washable and durable – the perfect solution for those who have allergies.
Superior-Loft Hollowfibre Duvets – Anti-allergy £18 - £75
Superior Clusterfibre Pillows – Anti-allergy £9 - £16
Wool duvet – Anti-allergy £80 - £140
Hollowfibre Topper £45 - £75
Chrissie Tip:
It’s vital to buy high quality synthetics. There’s a wide range of synthetic duvets and pillows on the market and their quality varies enormously. If you buy synthetics it’s vital you buy high quality (such as our superior loft spiral fibre) because the poorer quality ones become lumpy and uncomfortable over time.• What is a tog?
Tog is a term used to describe the warmth of duvets. 4.5 tog is cool and lightweight, 9 tog is a medium-warm option and 13.5 tog is wonderfully warm. For children under 10 we recommend a 4.5 tog duvet all year round as they find it harder to regulate their own temperature.
• I want a duvet to see me through the whole year; which one should I buy?
Ideally we should sleep under a 4.5 tog in summer, a 9 tog in spring and autumn and a 13.5 tog in winter. The ultimate luxury is to buy one in each weight. Alternatively our 4.5 tog and 9 tog duvets can be buttoned together to add up to a 13.5 tog for winter. This is called an all- seasons duvet.
• What is a
box construction duvet?
Duvets with a box construction have been specially sewn with even-sized squares all over. These boxes keep the filling evenly distributed and prevent it slipping down to the bottom.
• Why are
goose down duvets so special?
The down clusters from a goose are bigger and lighter than those from other birds. This means they can trap more air in between them, creating a duvet that is blissfully warm yet incredibly light – like sleeping in a cloud! Goose down also comes in different qualities (the higher the quality, the lighter the duvet). We offer 3 different qualities in up to 3 different tog warmth ratings.
