A new direction
A modern take on festive dressing
Luxurious, confident, comfortable. How we all want to feel during the Christmas season. We caught up with our Clothing Director Sheila McKain to find out how to achieve just that, as well as the inspiration behind our latest collection.
For Christmas, we were trying to continue the evolution we started for autumn and really bring in that sense of effortlessness and nonchalance.
The collection is grounded in texture and fluidity. We thought a lot about how important not only going out is, but also entertaining at home at time of year.
With this collection, we've stepped away from the traditional “Christmas party” and thought about beautiful clothes that you can wear and style in lots of different ways – and then wear past Christmas, as well.
I've got really into entertaining at home in the last couple of years and wanted to create a collection that reflects that.
Think about a beautiful pair of trousers that you wear year-round – we have a couple of really great pairs, a wide-leg satin style, which I really love, as well as a double-pleat front pair.
Then, you can mix those with an elevated cashmere sweater or a blouse. It feels like a much more modern, contemporary way to do Christmas dressing than before when you maybe thought you always had to have a sparkly dress.
It feels like there's been an evolution lately in the way women dress, with more focus on separates. One of the things that felt really relevant to the moment is fluidity and how fabrics move with you – making sure that we always capture that ease and softness that is so inherently The White Company.
