An inventive advent
Gather ribbons and string, scraps of wrapping paper and envelopes, then package up some festive cheer to open each day. We’ve thought of a few ideas to get you started…
For kids
Think outside the chocolate box with some creative kit and activities.
- Tiny toys, such as bouncy balls, cars, a whistle or glow sticks
- Bath toys, bubbles, hair bands or no-tie shoelaces
- Stickers, coloured pencils, or little art projects
- Toys that make up a set, eg. Playmobil or Lego
- Chapters of festive books to read together
- Permission to stay up past bedtime
- Decorations to add to the tree
For adults
Mix and match each parcel so everyday day is a surprise.
- Fresh coffee pods or specialty tea bags
- Small gifts, such as votive candles or cashmere socks
- Love notes
- Miniature bottles of spirits
- Books to read over the Christmas season
- A token for breakfast in bed or dinner that evening
For the whole family
Take turns opening each day. The contents are best shared together.
- An evening activity, like games night or Christmas baking
- Christmas-themed jokes or riddles
- A recipe to make together
- Permission to open one gift under the tree early
- Homemade cookies
- Choosing the Christmas film that evening
