Once you have placed an order for goods (and delivery, if applicable), we will send you confirmation that your order has been received, but this is not a confirmation that your offer to purchase the goods (or for them to be delivered) has been accepted. A contract between you and The White Company for the sale and delivery of our goods will only exist once an order has been accepted, processed and dispatched to you. Payment will be taken at the point of order placement. This does not affect your legal rights. We are unable to amend or cancel any orders once they are placed.

Deliveries

Please note that a delivery charge will be added to your order value where appropriate. The White Company shall receive such delivery charge in relation to the delivery of the goods. Please see our delivery times and charges.

Gift card and E-gift card ("Gift Tender Terms")

The White Company gift cards and E-gift cards ("Gift Tender") can be used or redeemed at any of The White Company stores in the United Kingdom and UK online (Subject to website terms and conditions). Gift Tender may not be used at The White Company's department stores and concessions for purchase, redemption or balance check. (E.g. Selfridges, Fenwicks, Elys, Harrods, Voisins etc.)

Gift Tender may be exchanged for goods the price of which being equal to or lower than the balance or value of the Gift Tender. Gift Tender can be used as a complete or partial payment. If a purchase exceeds the redeemer's Gift Tender balance or value, the remaining amount must be paid with another method of payment. If any item purchased with Gift Tender is subsequently exchanged for an item of a lower price or refunded, any money owing to you will be refunded via the form of Gift Tender originally used for such purchase.

Gift Tender cannot be resold, transferred for value or exchanged for cash. No cash change will be given on purchases made using Gift Tender. Gift Tender cannot be used to purchase other Gift Tender. Gift Tender is not cheque guarantee, credit or charge cards.

The White Company shall not be liable for any failure to comply with its obligations where the failure is caused by something outside its reasonable control. Such circumstances shall include, but not be limited to, technical and computer faults, failures and malfunctions or any other circumstances amounting to force majeure.

The White Company reserves the right to refuse to accept any Gift Tender (and to take alternative forms of payment) which it deems to have been tampered with, defaced, modified, duplicated, damaged, or which otherwise is suspected to be affected from fraud.

By purchasing, using or accepting Gift Tender you confirm your acknowledgement and acceptance of these terms and conditions. The White Company reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions from time to time, without notice and to take appropriate action, including the cancellation of Gift Tender, if, in its discretion, it deems such action necessary. This does not affect your legal rights. The White Company is the sole issuer and obligator to you. The White Company may assign its issuer duties without recourse.

The remainder of these Terms shall apply to all purchases of goods made using Gift Tender. To the extent that there is any conflict or inconsistency between the Terms and these Gift Tender Terms, these Gift Tender Terms shall take precedence prevailing over the provisions of the Terms.

Paper gift vouchers

The White Company will no longer accept paper gift vouchers as a payment method. We stopped selling paper vouchers in August 2017 and replaced these with gift cards, which are available to purchase online or in store.

Conformity of goods

We take every care to ensure that the description and specification of our products are correct at the time of going to press. However, specifications and descriptions of products on this Website are not intended to be binding and are intended only to give a general description of the products. Furthermore, while the colour reproduction of the products is a close representation, we cannot accept any responsibility for any variation in colour caused by the browser software or computer system used to view the products.

Stock availability

We endeavour to display all items currently available on our website, and aim to hold stock of all styles and sizes while a product is active. Occasionally, an item will be out of stock. If this is the case and we expect more stock to become available, this will be highlighted in your bag. The stock status for your order will also be shown on your order confirmation. If the item is available to purchase on pre-order, we will provide a promise date for expected delivery. However, if a product is truly out of stock, you will not be able to add it to your bag.

Your right to cancel

You have a legal right to change your mind and cancel your order within 14 days of receipt and receive a refund of all charges for the cancelled goods and the delivery charges. We will process the refund without delay and in any event not later than (a) 14 days after the day we receive back from you any products supplied; or (b) if there were no products supplied, 14 days after the day on which we receive your cancellation notification. This includes the delivery fees incurred by The White Company for EU deliveries, for which we will refund the equivalent amount charged for delivery. You will then need to return the item(s) either to one of our stores (except concessions in department stores) or by post. Parcels returned by post are returned at your own cost. For more information on how to change or cancel your order before dispatch, please see further the Placing an Order page. Please see further the Returns page for information on how to cancel your order after receipt of your products.

Gift service

We will endeavour to wrap your item as requested. Some items are too large and we will not be able to gift wrap them. Where you have asked us to use only one box or bag we will endeavour to do so, however, if the items will not fit and we have to use more than one, you will be charged for each box/bag used.

Our returns policy

We have extended our returns policy for Christmas. Returns or exchanges for purchases made between 16th October and 24th December 2024 will be accepted until 31st January 2025. Our outlet stores will accept exchanges only, and this policy does not extend to our concessions, which will follow the policy of their host stores.

We want you to be delighted with your purchase, but if you are not, you can return any item within our returns period, provided the products are returned complete, in perfect condition, unused, unwashed and with their original packaging.

If you return any products in accordance with our returns policy, we will be happy to offer you an exchange or, if you wish, a refund provided that the products are returned complete, in perfect condition, unused, unwashed and with the original packaging. Items can be returned outside this period if they are found to be faulty but please take extra care to read our Product Care Information page or any specific care instructions provided with your purchase. Return of an item is at your own cost unless the item is faulty. For further details please visit our Returns page.

From 1st January 2021, returns from EU countries will be subject to UK VAT (20%) for goods valued at £22 or more and EU customers will now be required to complete customs declarations to import the goods into the UK. In addition, import duty may be payable on goods valued over £135. The White Company pays all import taxes and duties on your behalf. Please contact the customer services team with proof of payment of duty and VAT and we will reimburse you. EU customers will continue to be responsible for paying carrier costs as per the existing return process.

Returning your items

Whether exercising your legal right to cancel or returning a product under our returns policy, certain items cannot be returned, for example, for hygiene reasons. For further details please visit our Returns page.

Please provide proof of purchase when returning an item to one of our stores. If you are unable to provide proof of purchase at our store, an exchange or gift card to the value of the lowest-selling price for the returned goods will be offered. A refund will be offered regardless if the goods are faulty.

The following items cannot be returned unless faulty or damaged:

• Ex-display display items purchased from store
• Items purchased from our Clearance range
• Made-to-order items created to specifications

This does not affect your legal rights.

We are now able to resume furniture collection. Our courier, Wincanton, will be following a process designed to keep our customers and colleagues safe. As a result, collections will only be taking place Tuesday–Friday. Only items that do not require disassembling will be collected – if an item was assembled, you will need to take it apart yourself. The item will need to be re-wrapped in the original packaging where possible, and we will make arrangements with you to collect it.

Please call our Customer Services Team on 020 3758 9222 (Monday–Friday 8am to 10pm; Saturday 9am to 5pm; Sundays and Bank Holidays 10am to 4pm) within 30 days of receipt to discuss the return of furniture items. Under our returns policy, we cannot accept the return of items that have been used or damaged since we delivered them. (Please note, our furniture collection includes mirrors.)

All prices quoted on this Website are accurate at the time of publication, are quoted in pounds sterling and where appropriate are inclusive of UK sales tax (VAT) at the current rate. If your order is being despatched to a destination outside the United Kingdom (UK) then your UK sales tax (VAT) will be zero. From 1st January 2021, orders from EU countries with an order value over €150 will be subject to import duty. The White Company pays all import taxes and duties on your behalf. In the rare event that these charges are passed on to you, please contact us with proof of payment and we will reimburse you. In addition, our carriers will complete all necessary customs paperwork to ensure there are minimal delays with orders from EU countries

US customs

Due to customs restrictions on total or combined orders to a single US address, if you are placing an order of over £1,700 please call our helpful Customer Service team on 020 375 89 222, who will be happy to help ensure your order gets placed and processed as quickly and efficiently as possible.

General terms and conditions

Recycling electricals

How The White Company can help you recycle old electricals As part of our commitment to sustainability, we are pleased to offer an in-store Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE) recycling service.

Any time you purchase a new The White Company electrical item, you can bring its old counterpart* to one of our stores to be recycled. Simply show us proof of purchase, within 28 days, for your new item and we’ll take care of the rest.

Why recycling is good for everyone Unwanted EEE is the UK's fastest growing type of waste. However, many electrical items can be recycled, reused or even repaired, saving natural resources, helping protect the environment and bridging the digital divide.

Not recycling EEE means it will end up in landfill, where the leak of hazardous substances will cause soil and water contamination – harming both wildlife and human health.

Please do not throw EEE with your household waste, but see to its proper disposal, as highlighted by the crossed-out wheeled-bin symbol on it. Visit Recycle Your Electricals and type in your postcode to find your nearest recycling centre.

Read more about the positive impact of reusing and recycling your electricals on the Recycle Your Electricals website.

Our commitment to responsible electronics production As part of the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations 2013, The White Company is not only a retailer but a producer of EEE. As a responsible producer, we have joined an Obligated Producer Compliance Scheme which helps to financially support the national network of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment recycling centres established by local authorities.

*Please note: the old item you bring into store to be recycled doesn’t have to have been purchased from The White Company, as long as it’s the same type as your new The White Company electrical item – for example, you can recycle any brand of electronic diffuser with us, as long as you have purchased a new The White Company Electronic Diffuser.

Triman compliance

For our activity in France, we’ve registered with the Triman governing bodies, who run recycling schemes that help customers understand how to responsibly dispose of products and packaging. As part of this, we are registered with:

  • Citeo (Unique Identifier Number FR362737_01SXUA)

  • Refashion (Unique Identifier Number FR362737_11YNXI)

  • Screlec (Unique Identifier Number FR362737_06HKGT)
