Simple pleasures: the Christmas catch up
It’s been in the diary since mid-September when everyone declared that the only time they still have free in the whole of December is a Tuesday evening. So, a Tuesday evening it is. After all, weeknights don’t count in the run-up to Christmas and gathered around a table, bottles of wine open and candles flickering, it might as well be a Friday anyway. Dinner at a favourite local restaurant or all congregated in the cosiest kitchen, there’s still an excuse to dress up a little bit – jeans and a sparkly jumper or a nice, but not overly fancy, dress. Tales of old times weave their way between life updates and stories that make you cry with laughter. And, as the night gets later and everyone works out their route home, you vow that next year, you’ll plan it earlier, and it won’t be a Tuesday night.
