Simple pleasures: the flicker of candlelight

There’s something so instantly relaxing about the warming glow from a candle. Even more so on an autumnal evening. The near stillness of the flame with its soft sway, a peaceful contrast to the wind rustling the trees outside. Just as calming is the act of lighting it – the ritual involved. The sound of striking the match. Hovering it over the wick until it catches. Gently blowing out the match. Then, as the relaxing scent starts to fill the room and the candlelight casts its gleam, it’s an open invitation to unwind.
